Welcome!

Welcome!

I've started this blog on the 1st day the year 2020.

My purpose for the blog is for it to be a place for me to share information, resources, courses and more to help people looking for some help to avoid getting stuck on the wrong side of the digital divide.

  • Help with the questions you are reluctant to ask people young enough to be your grandchildren (or almost)
  • Guidance with life skills you need to cope in the rapidly changing world very different to the one we were born into
  • I'll share other random bits and pieces I've picked up along my journey or am asked to go out to find!
Joanne

I’m a dispute resolution professional and business owner born in the 1960’s.

Unlike many people from my generations I actually enjoy and am excited by the potential that the internet and the potential it holds. I want to share that excitement (at least some of it) and the basic knowledge you need to make use of these tools. If you are a knowledge worker I really encourage you to keep up!

Knowledge Work

A knowledge worker is someone who’s job involves handling or using information rather than physically making or doing something or providing personal services such as a nurse, aged care worker or child care worker.

II work in education and as a dispute resolution professional where I help people to make agreements and make peace with each other by supporting them to reach mutual understandings. It’s all about knowledge

You might be a lawyer, a coach, a therapist or do some other form of knowledge work.  If you don’t produce a tangible or physically interact. ou are a knowledge worker like I am then I hope you are aware that we are in the middle of the next big revolution to hit the world. Like many of the manual workers at the start of the industrial revolution you may not have noticed it yet but you will within your lifetime.

Knowledge, including expert knowledge, can now be digitised, packaged and transported in the same way that energy was able to be  contained and  transported giving rise to the industrial revolution.

One of the speakers at  the 2019 TEDxCasey Dheeren Velu shared his insights into what this means and can mean for us in his talk, Get some Skin in the Game.

I’m part of the TEDx movement because I think that Ideas matter and that the only way we are going to get out of the man made problems our world is experiencing is by working together to solve them.
